A great facial does far more than feel relaxing — it deep-cleanses pores, lifts away dead skin, restores hydration and gives your complexion a glow no highlighter can fake. But with so many options on a salon menu, how do you know which facial is right for you? It starts with understanding your skin type. Here’s our therapists’ guide, including which treatments from our Lotus facial menu suit each skin concern.
First, know your skin type
- Dry skin — Feels tight after cleansing, shows flaky patches, fine lines appear more visible.
- Oily skin — Shiny by midday, enlarged pores, prone to blackheads and breakouts.
- Combination skin — Oily through the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) but normal or dry on the cheeks.
- Sensitive skin — Reacts easily with redness, stinging or itching — especially to fragranced products.
- Dull or tired skin — Looks tired or grey, uneven tone, rough texture — often from sun, stress or dehydration.
- Mature or ageing skin — Fine lines, loss of firmness, pigmentation and slower cell turnover.
If your skin is dry or dehydrated: choose a hydrating facial
Look for treatments built around moisture-binding ingredients and nourishing masks. Our Lotus Hydra Vitals facial (30 minutes) floods thirsty skin with hydration, while the Lotus Preservita range uses fruit-derived antioxidants to lock that moisture in. Expect plumper, softer skin from the very first session.
If your skin is oily or congested: choose a deep-cleansing facial
Your priority is decongesting pores without stripping the skin — over-stripping just triggers more oil. A regular Face Clean Up (our 20-minute Kaya clean-up is perfect on a lunch break) keeps congestion under control, while the Lotus Pura Vitals facial purifies more deeply. Done every four to six weeks, deep-cleansing facials noticeably reduce blackheads and breakouts.
If your skin looks dull: choose a brightening facial
Dull skin needs two things: exfoliation to clear away dead cells, and ingredients that boost radiance. Our Lotus 4 Layer Whitening facial works in progressive layers to brighten and even out skin tone, while the Lotus Gold Sheen (40 minutes) delivers an instant lit-from-within glow — a favourite before weddings, parties and photos.
If you’re concerned about ageing: choose an anti-ageing facial
Anti-ageing facials combine firming massage techniques with concentrated actives that support collagen and soften fine lines. The Lotus Preservita Kiwi Antiaging and Lotus 4 Layer Antiaging facials (45 minutes) target early signs of ageing, while our most indulgent options — Lotus Ultimo Gold and Lotus Ultimo Platinum (60 minutes) — pair luxurious textures with serious skin-firming results.
If your skin is sensitive: tell us first
Sensitive skin isn’t excluded from facials — it just needs the right ones. All our treatments are professional and anti-allergic, and we carry organic, fragrance-conscious options for reactive skin. Mention any sensitivities during your consultation and your therapist will tailor every product to keep your skin calm and comfortable.
How often should you get a facial?
Skin renews itself roughly every 28 days, so a facial every four to six weeks keeps results consistent. Between visits, protect your investment: cleanse morning and night, wear SPF daily (yes, even in Perth winter), and keep your skin hydrated.
